The Idea
Our small business aims to share this wonderful place so that everyone has the chance to enjoy this little-known gem of the West Coast that we call home. We are a family-run business that has been growing its roots in this community for over 25 years and wants to offer a personal, luxury experience to the glamping world. Our cabin has been designed so that it will settle into its environment while offering all the luxuries of a modern home with the added extra of being just one sept away from the beauty of the great outdoors.
The History
The land gets this title from its rich and turbulent history. The peninsula of Morven was once a thriving community with over 3000 residents scattered across the rugged landscape. It was home to one of the largest and most powerful clans of the west coast, the Lord of the Isles who controlled much of the traffic that sailed along the Isle of Mull which was a thriving trading route. The land came to be forgotten after the Jacobite rebellion, led by Charles Edward Stewart, which tried to regain the British throne but failed. As a consequence of this failed attempt all known supporters of the Jacobite rebellion were to be removed and 90% of the local population lost. To this day the population has never recovered leaving this land relatively uninhabited bar a few scattered houses and the main settlement in Lochaline.
The Area
Located on the remote peninsula of Morvern is a landscape that has been largely overlooked by the world. This land has a treasure trove of natural beauty and is littered with relics of Scotland's rich history just waiting to be explored. From old Atlantic rainforests, historic settlements hidden in the forests, ancient fossils buried in the hillsides, and an abundance of wildlife waiting to be seen on the land and sea.
Being located on one of the busiest shipping lanes on the West Coast which dates back centuries you will find wrecks of old galleons in the deep sound of Mull which local diving companies regularly explore.
